This is Salsa!
Salsa is more energetic, playful and flirtatious. Partners dance further apart with lots of quick turns and footwork danced to faster tempo music.
...and this is Bachata!
Bachata is slower, sexier, and more sensual, generally danced hip-to-hip with more upper body movement.

The dances are fun, the instructors are skilled, enthusiastic, funny and make the whole learning experience extremely enjoyable and easy to follow. The instructors are really one of their strong selling points - just so amazing, fun and approachable. I always look forward to attending the classes every week and to learn new styles and techniques. The classes are well structured and with the open classes/practicas in place, we are always learning new things! Love this place so much!

05/15/2022Went for the dance trial class yesterday (costs $10 for both Salsa and Bachata, for first timers) and I had such a great time! The instructors were fun, knowledgeable and friendly! It won't take you long to feel comfortable being in the class. Since I have not tried their classes yet, I will be reviewing the trial class. For both classes, they taught us the individual footwork before adding on the partner work. Pace of teaching was great for first timers. I like how they rotated partners for every new move they taught so you get the exposure of social dance and the experience of dancing with different people. I highly recommend trying because you never know, you might just like it!

05/15/2023This is my second month dancing with EM and it has been a great experience so far. I have attended several classes by different instructors and they ensured that everyone feels included. Quality of instructors is also quite consistent which ensured that quality is maintained across all classes. Instructors are also dedicated in teaching, as seen from how they go beyond the mile to respond to students' queries after class. Classes are well planned, whereby new moves are introduced every lesson. During class, instructors go around correcting students' moves which is of great help esp for beginners. They create a safe platform to lesrn as they wun "scold" us for not doing a move right or asking questions. We are also allowed to film a dance review video at the end of each lesson which we can use to practise at home. This is very useful to catchup. Group chats are created to share such videos. Feedback provided by students is also taken seriously by the sch. Socials (a platform for students across all levels ti dance together) held wkly are fun even for beginner students as many advanced dancers (leads) are willing to dance with us and we can learn more from them. Socials also serve as a good platform to apply what we learn in class and hone our dance skills. Also, the sch holds wkend open classes at an additional fee where we can learn new moves and improve further. Overall, this dance sch stands out for being nurturing and conducive to beginners. Also, the sch has a strong dance community where most people are open to getting to know each other and most are understanding of each other's dance proficiency, which makes it comfortable to learn dance here.

12/15/2023Absolutely love En Motion, I look forward to going for class every time, it's the highlight of my week. The instructors are cheerful and jovial so everyone's spirits are always high, but they're also extremely patient and meticulous. Unlike other places, they try to keep a good ratio between leads and follows so no one is left waiting for a partner for too long. I also hugely appreciate their efforts to keep us all involved in dancing even during the COVID Phase 1 by having free online classes and competitions. Huge fan of their regular flurry of open classes and practicas to keep things interesting so there's always something new to learn!

05/15/2023Started learning Latin Dance from Artistic Director Gary Foo, the founder of En Motion Dance School, since 2005 and was immediately addicted to the dance! The instructors at the school were very professional and made the learning process fun, easy and enjoyable. I found myself looking forward to the next class the moment the current one ended. The learning environment was extremely conducive and it felt more like a family to me. The opportunity to learn alongside friends from all ages and across all walks of life, regardless of whether you're a total beginner in dance or someone with dance background, was an awesome experience for me. 12/15/2023Classes are really fun yet professional teaching! They make the concepts and techniques easy to understand. In addition, they are super friendly and all instructors are very helpful. Even if you are new or experienced in dance , it won't be an issue at all! Location is convenient too so maybe take a trial class and give dancing a chance ;)

Excellent location, conveniently located right in the heart of Orchard Road. En Motion teaches different levels of dance, from basics to advanced techniques. And I love that the the trainers do not make you feel shy about dancing at all. Beginners will feel welcomed. The trainers break down the steps in each lesson to ensure new dancers are able to understand everything while having fun. Definitely recommend EnMotion for anyone looking to learn dancing, whether wanting to learn professional techniques or just learning dance for fun.

05/15/2021The dancing studios are kept clean, fresh, cool and never stinky (or I got lucky that day). Proper air circulation and comfortable. The classes are small and the pace is easy so it is not too overwhelming. It is in the Cineleisure entertainment building to start with so there are plenty of other things to try or do - hopefully you won’t miss the class but catch the movie instead. The building and its customers’ facilities are well maintained and in the good working condition. The experience was pleasant.

Upon booking a class, I received a WhatsApp confirmation with useful info such as attire, footwear, venue, etc, which was greatly appreciated and very professional. Venue is easily accessible by public transport. And most importantly, the instructors are friendly, patient and highly skilled! Gary especially, explained the Bachata basic techniques in a clear and easy to understand manner, injecting some humour while teaching. This made the class very enjoyable. Highly recommended!

All the instructors are very professional, nice, motivating and friendly!! me and my partner Raphael have enjoyed learning from everyone, Gary and Fiona has been really amazing, funny and passionate , inspires us to do more! My husband and I lost about $1,800 in class credits. (~$1,400 SGD in value) We started going to EnMotion in 2020, pre covid and bought credits in 2021, intending to make it a weekly date-night activity. Post covid, the quality of the classes fell drastically. For example, in the last class we attended, Bachata Combo Series II Intermediate/advanced, the instructor, Gary Foo spent about half an going through basic turns. This culminated in Gary, becoming visibly frustrated with the students, resulting in the female instructor having to apologise. I don't think we went back to finish that course In addition, we faced significant pressure to rotate partners, as my husband was one of the few men in the classes, even though I was either pregnant, and feeling significant nausea, or post pregnancy, and experiencing physical weakness. We were given a 1 year extension to use the credits, after I submitted our child's birth certificate, but due to the quality of the classes, found that our date nights became frustrating and unenjoyable and hence stopped attending. I asked for a refund for the remaining class credit value, and have not gotten a response. True, the terms and conditions do state that packages are "non-transferrable and non refundable" But we bought the package assuming that the quality of the classes would be consistent My only recourse is to document our terrible, lamentable experience so that others can avoid making the same mistake

Most definitely! Our trial classes are for beginners who want to pick up Salsa & Bachata. 9 out of 10 of our students started with no dance background as well so you don't have to worry. Our instructors also make it their job to go slow and bring in good vibes so you can learn the steps at your own pace.
Nope! You can choose to bring a friend, but can also attend the class solo if you'd like as we’ll rotate partners between songs so everyone gets to dance with each other.
Come in a comfortable outfit like workout or gym attire that allows you to move freely! Jazz shoes/ dance sneakers/track shoes/ballet flats/heels with back ankle straps work for ladies and for gentlemen, track shoes/normal covered shoes do the job. No flip flops though!
If you have prior Street Latin Dance background (Salsa, Bachata, etc.), our instructors can conduct a brief 3-min assessment to advise you on which class suits your level best. Let us know in the Google Forms!
If you have a dance background in other styles like Latin Ballroom, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, etc. we do recommend you to start from Beginner Level 1. Street Latin Dance is a unique genre, with fundamentals very different from other dance styles. Always good to build a strong foundation in a new dance before moving to a higher level!
